Frases clave
| Inglés | Español |
|---|---|
| It's a service that handles all the payments. |
| This is the queue where failed jobs end up. |
| The team that owns it is based in Berlin. |
Gramática · Oraciones de relativo
that / which (cosas) · who (personas) · where (lugares)
Añaden información sobre un nombre. That vale para cosas y personas; which solo para cosas; where para lugares (también virtuales).
It's the cache that stores session data.
Leo: Can you walk me through the main components?
Tú: There's an API that receives the requests, and a worker that processes the jobs.
Para cosas, that (no who). Y en la relativa no se repite el sujeto: “that processes”, no “that it processes”. Además, “an API”.
Comparar opciones
Compara alternativas de forma equilibrada.
Frases clave
| Inglés | Español |
|---|---|
| Postgres is more flexible, whereas Redis is much faster. |
| On the other hand, it adds operational complexity. | Por otro lado, añade complejidad operativa. |
| Both options would work, but the first is simpler. |
Gramática · Contrastar
A…, whereas B… · While A…, B… · On the other hand, …
On the other hand empieza una frase nueva.
While option A is cheaper, option B scales better.
💡 On the other hand suele ir después de “On the one hand…”, pero también funciona solo.
Así lo dirías
Sarah: SQL or NoSQL for this feature? Compare them briefly.
Tú: SQL gives us stronger consistency, whereas NoSQL is easier to scale.
Es “on the other hand”, no “in the other hand”. Y “easier to scale”, no “more easy for scale”.
Requisitos del sistema
Expresa requisitos sin decir quién hará qué.
Frases clave
| Inglés | Español |
|---|---|
| The results should be cached for an hour. | Los resultados deberían cachearse durante una hora. |
| It must be deployed without downtime. | Tiene que desplegarse sin caída del servicio. |
| The service can be scaled horizontally. | El servicio se puede escalar horizontalmente. |
Gramática · Pasiva con modales
should / must / can / will + be + participio
Personal data must be encrypted at rest.
💡 Nunca “must deployed”: falta be. Must be deployed.
Así lo dirías
Leo: What are the main non-functional requirements?
Tú: The system must handle high traffic, and all data must be encrypted.
Para la pasiva con must hace falta be: must be encrypted.
Causa y efecto
Explica la lógica de tus decisiones.
Frases clave
| Inglés | Español |
|---|---|
| Due to the rate limits, we batch the requests. |
| As a result, latency dropped by half. |
| Therefore, we don't need a separate cache. |
Gramática · Causa y consecuencia
due to / because of + nombre · as a result, therefore + frase
Due to y because of van con un nombre. As a result y therefore introducen la consecuencia al principio de frase.
Due to high traffic, the API was slow. As a result, we added caching.
💡 “Due to the fact that…” existe, pero “because” es más directo.
Así lo dirías
Sarah: Why did you choose event sourcing here?
Tú: Because of the audit requirements, we need a full history. That's why we chose event sourcing.
Con un nombre: because of. Y “so therefore” repite la idea: usa uno solo.
Condiciones y casos límite
Matiza cuándo tu diseño funciona y cuándo no.
Frases clave
| Inglés | Español |
|---|---|
| It works fine as long as traffic stays below 1,000 requests per second. |
| We don't need sharding unless we grow ten times. | No necesitamos sharding a menos que crezcamos diez veces. |
| We keep a backup in case the region goes down. |
Gramática · Condiciones con matiz
unless (a menos que) · as long as (siempre que) · in case (por si)
It's safe as long as the keys are rotated every month.
💡 Unless = if not. “Unless it fails” = “if it doesn't fail”.
Así lo dirías
Mark: When would this design stop working?
Tú: It works as long as we have fewer than ten thousand concurrent users.
“As long as” expresa mejor el límite.
Frases clave
| Inglés | Español |
|---|---|
| We considered three options and went with the simplest. |
| The main trade-off is flexibility versus speed. |
| We can revisit this decision in six months. |
Gramática · Estructura de una propuesta
context → options → decision → trade-offs → risks
We went with option B because it's easier to operate.
💡 “Go with” = elegir una opción: we went with Postgres.
Así lo dirías
Sarah: Summarise your proposal in thirty seconds.
Tú: We went with option B because it's simpler. The trade-off is that it's less flexible.
Falta el sujeto: because it's. “Simpler”, no “more simple”.
