Quién eres, qué haces y qué has hecho.

Frases clave

InglésEspañol
I'm a backend developer with five years of experience.
I mostly work with Java and Spring.Trabajo sobre todo con Java y Spring.
I've worked for two startups and a bank.

I'm a… · I work with… · I've worked on/for…

I'm a frontend developer, and I've built apps for over a million users.

💡 No digas “I have five years of experience in Java” sin más: es correcto, pero “I've been working with Java for five years” suena más natural al hablar.

Guía completa del Present perfect →

Así lo dirías

Mark: Tell me a bit about yourself.

Tú: I'm a backend developer. I've been working with Python for four years, and I've built quite a few APIs.

A developer, con artículo. Present perfect + for para tu experiencia, y I've built para logros sin fecha.

Tus logros

Cifras y verbos fuertes, no “I was responsible for”.

Frases clave

InglésEspañol
I reduced the page load time by forty percent.
I led the migration to the cloud.Lideré la migración a la nube.
I set up the CI pipeline from scratch.Monté el pipeline de CI desde cero.

Gramática · Verbos de acción en pasado

built · led · reduced · improved · launched · automated + resultado

I automated the release process and cut deploy time by half.

💡 By + porcentaje para el cambio: reduced costs by 20%.

Así lo dirías

Sarah: What's an achievement you're proud of?

Tú: I led our migration to Kubernetes, and afterwards the app was about 30% faster.

Empieza con un verbo fuerte (led) en vez de “was responsible of”. Faster, no more fast.

Frases clave

InglésEspañol
Thanks for reaching out about the role.Gracias por escribirme sobre el puesto.
I'm interested in learning more about the team.Me interesa saber más sobre el equipo.
Could you share the salary range for this position?¿Podrías compartir la banda salarial de este puesto?

Gramática · Interés y preguntas educadas

interested in + -ing/sustantivo · I'd love to + verbo · Could you share…?

Interested in siempre con in, y si sigue un verbo, en -ing. I'd love to es entusiasta pero profesional.

I'm really interested in working on developer tools.

Sarah: A recruiter calls you about a job. How do you show interest and ask about the salary?

Tú: Yes, I'm definitely interested in the role. Could you share the salary range?

Interested in. “How much is the money?” suena brusco: pregunta por the salary range con could you.

Frases clave

InglésEspañol
Could you tell me what a typical day looks like?¿Me podrías contar cómo es un día normal?
I'd like to know how the team handles on-call.
Do you know when you'll make a decision?¿Sabes cuándo tomaréis una decisión?

Gramática · Preguntas indirectas

Could you tell me / Do you know + palabra interrogativa + sujeto + verbo

Tras “Could you tell me…”, la pregunta va en orden de afirmación: sin do/does y con el sujeto antes del verbo.

Could you tell me how the team measures success?

¿Me podrías contar cómo mide el éxito el equipo?

💡 “Could you tell me what does the team do?” es incorrecto. Lo correcto: what the team does.

Así lo dirías

Mark: Do you have any questions for us?

Tú: Yes, could you tell me a bit about how the team is organised and what you use for testing?

En preguntas indirectas, orden de afirmación: how the team is, what you use (sin do).

Hablar de condiciones

Pide lo que quieres sin cerrar puertas.

Frases clave

InglésEspañol
I'm looking for something in the range of sixty thousand.
I'd prefer a fully remote position.Preferiría un puesto totalmente en remoto.
I could start in about a month.

I'd prefer + sustantivo/to + verbo · I could + verbo · Would it be possible to…?

Would y could suavizan lo que pides: suenan flexibles aunque tengas claro lo que quieres.

Would it be possible to work from home on Fridays?

¿Sería posible trabajar desde casa los viernes?

💡 Would it be possible to + verbo es la forma más educada de pedir algo concreto.

Así lo dirías

Mark: What are you looking for in your next role?

Tú: I'm looking for a role with more responsibility, ideally around 50k, and I'd prefer to work mostly from home.

“I want” suena exigente: I'm looking for / I'd prefer. Want/prefer + to + verbo.

Repaso: el proceso de selección

Preséntate, cuenta logros, pregunta y negocia.

Frases clave

InglésEspañol
Thank you for your time today.Gracias por tu tiempo hoy.
I'm really excited about the opportunity.Me ilusiona mucho la oportunidad.
I look forward to hearing from you.Quedo a la espera de tus noticias.

Gramática · Repaso de la unidad

I'm a… / I've worked · led, reduced by · interested in · could you tell me what… · I'd prefer

I look forward to hearing from you.

Quedo a la espera de tus noticias.

💡 Look forward to + -ing: I look forward to hearing from you. El to es preposición.

Así lo dirías

Sarah: We'd like to make you an offer. Do you have any questions before you decide?

Tú: Thank you so much, that's great news! Could you tell me what the start date would be, and whether it's possible to work remotely?

Indirecta: what the start date would be. “Si es posible” = whether it's possible: falta el sujeto it.
