Frases clave

InglésEspañol
What do you think is getting in the way?¿Qué crees que te lo está impidiendo?
What would you try if you knew it couldn't fail?¿Qué probarías si supieras que no puede fallar?
What's one small step you could take this week?¿Cuál es un pequeño paso que podrías dar esta semana?

Gramática · Preguntas abiertas de coaching

What do you think…? · What would you…? · How might you…? · What's getting in the way?

Las preguntas de coaching empiezan por what o how, no por why (que suena a juicio). Invitan a reflexionar en vez de defenderse.

What led you to choose that approach?

¿Qué te llevó a elegir ese enfoque?

💡 “Why did you do that?” suena acusador; “What led you to that decision?” abre la conversación.

Así lo dirías

Leo: I'm struggling to finish my tasks on time and I don't know why. Coach me.

Tú: Thanks for bringing this up. What do you think is getting in the way? If you look at last week, where did most of your time actually go?

Preguntas abiertas con what primero, consejos después.

Hablar de rendimiento

Hechos concretos, impacto claro, sin etiquetas.

Frases clave

InglésEspañol
In yesterday's planning, you interrupted Priya several times.
The impact was that she stopped sharing her ideas.
How did you see that meeting?¿Cómo viste tú esa reunión?

“You interrupted three times” se puede cambiar; “you're rude” no.

In Monday's demo, you skipped the error cases, and as a result the client lost confidence.

💡 Termina con una pregunta: “How did you see it?” convierte el feedback en conversación.

Así lo dirías

Mark: A senior engineer keeps dismissing juniors' ideas in meetings. Give them feedback.

Tú: In yesterday's design review, when Ana suggested a queue, you said “that won't work” before she finished. The impact was that she didn't speak again. How did you see that moment?

Expectativas y consecuencias

Deja claro qué debe cambiar y para cuándo.

Frases clave

InglésEspañol
It's essential that every PR be reviewed within a day.
I need you to own the on-call handover from now on.Necesito que te encargues del traspaso de guardia a partir de ahora.
If this continues, we'll need to look at a formal plan.

It's essential / vital that + sujeto + verbo base · I need you to + verbo · If this continues, we'll need to…

It's vital that you flag risks as soon as you see them.

💡 “I need you to…” es directo pero respetuoso; mejor que “you have to…”.

Así lo dirías

Priya: Someone on your team has missed three on-call handovers. Set a clear expectation.

Tú: I want to be direct because it matters. It's essential that the handover be written before you log off, every time. I need you to commit to that, and if it continues, we'll need to look at a formal plan. What would help you do it consistently?

Una amenaza (“I will tell HR”) bloquea.

Frases clave

InglésEspañol
It sounds like you're feeling overwhelmed by the on-call load.
Let me make sure I've got this right.Déjame asegurarme de que lo he entendido bien.
That makes complete sense, given everything on your plate.

It sounds like… · So what I'm hearing is… · Let me make sure I've got this right · That makes sense, given…

So what I'm hearing is that the deadline feels impossible, which makes sense given the scope change.

Priya: I feel like I'm not growing in this team. Respond as my manager.

Tú: Thank you for telling me. It sounds like you're not feeling challenged at the moment. Let me make sure I've got this right: is it the type of work, or not having enough ownership?

Negar lo que siente (“that is not true”) invalida.

Delegar y hacer crecer

Delega el problema, no solo la tarea.

Frases clave

InglésEspañol
I'd like you to own the migration end to end.
You don't need to check with me on technical decisions.
Come to me if it's going to affect the launch date.

I'd like you to own… · You don't need to… · Come to me if… · What support would you need?

Don't need to (no hace falta) da autonomía; mustn't (no debes) la quita.

You don't need to ask me about the design, but come to me if the budget changes.

💡 Don't need to = no es necesario. Mustn't = está prohibido. Confundirlos cambia el mensaje por completo.

Así lo dirías

Leo: Delegate the on-call improvement project to me.

Tú: I'd like you to own the on-call improvement project end to end. You don't need to check with me on how you do it; just come to me if it needs budget or affects other teams. What support would you need?

“Tell me all the decisions” anula la delegación.

Repaso: liderar personas

Preguntar, dar feedback, poner límites, escuchar y delegar.

Frases clave

InglésEspañol
I appreciate you being so open about this.
Let's agree on one thing to try before our next 1:1.Acordemos una cosa que probar antes de nuestro próximo 1:1.
I'm here to help you succeed, not to judge.

What's getting in the way? · SBI · It's essential that + base · It sounds like… · You don't need to…

It sounds like the rota is unfair; it's essential that we fix it, so what would a fair rota look like to you?

Mark: What does a good 1:1 with someone who's underperforming look like for you?

Tú: I'd start by asking how they see things, then share specific examples using situation, behaviour and impact. I'd be clear about what's essential, agree on one concrete change, and set a date to review it together.
