Frases clave
| Inglés | Español |
|---|---|
| I've been working as a backend developer for six years. | Llevo seis años trabajando como desarrollador backend. |
| Before that, I worked at a fintech startup. | Antes, trabajé en una startup fintech. |
| Most recently, I've been leading the payments team. | Últimamente he estado liderando el equipo de pagos. |
Gramática · Trayectoria hasta hoy
I've been + -ing + for / since · Before that, + pasado simple
I've been building web apps for eight years.
Llevo ocho años creando aplicaciones web.
💡 Nunca “I am working here since 2020”: I've been working here since 2020.
Así lo dirías
Mark: So, tell me about yourself.
Tú: I've been a developer for six years. I started at a bank, and for the last two years I've been working at a startup.
“Since six years” es un calco: for six years. Para lo que sigue hoy, present perfect.
Antes y ahora
Dos estructuras que se confunden muchísimo.
Frases clave
| Inglés | Español |
|---|---|
| I used to work mostly on the frontend. | Antes trabajaba sobre todo en frontend. |
| I'm used to working with remote teams. |
| It took me a while to get used to on-call. |
Gramática · Used to frente a be used to
used to + verbo base (antes…) · be / get used to + -ing (estar / acostumbrarse a)
Used to habla de algo que hacías y ya no. Be used to es estar acostumbrado; get used to, acostumbrarse.
I used to deploy manually; now I'm used to having CI.
Antes desplegaba a mano; ahora estoy acostumbrado a tener CI.
💡 Después de be used to va -ing: I'm used to working remotely.
Así lo dirías
Mark: How has your way of working changed over the years?
Tú: I used to work mostly alone, but now I'm used to working in a team.
Están cruzados: used to + verbo base (work) y be used to + -ing (working).
STAR: situación y tarea
Pon el contexto en pocas frases.
Frases clave
| Inglés | Español |
|---|---|
| At the time, we were migrating to microservices. | En aquel momento estábamos migrando a microservicios. |
| My task was to reduce the checkout errors. |
| We had two weeks before the Black Friday traffic. |
Gramática · Situación y tarea
At the time, + pasado continuo · My task was to + verbo
At the time, we were growing fast and my task was to stabilise the API.
Mark: Tell me about a time you had to learn something quickly.
Tú: At the time, we were moving to Kubernetes, and my task was to learn it in two weeks.
“At the time”, no “in that moment”.
Frases clave
| Inglés | Español |
|---|---|
| I proposed splitting the service into two. | Propuse dividir el servicio en dos. |
| As a result, errors dropped by 60 percent. | Como resultado, los errores bajaron un 60 %. |
| I learned to involve the team much earlier. | Aprendí a involucrar al equipo mucho antes. |
Gramática · Acción y resultado
I + verbo de acción (led, built, proposed) · reduced / increased by + %
Habla de “I”, no solo de “we”: el entrevistador quiere saber qué hiciste tú. Cierra con un resultado medible.
I led the migration and we reduced costs by 40 percent.
💡 By indica la diferencia: reduced by 30 %. To indica el valor final: reduced to 2 seconds.
Así lo dirías
Mark: What did you do, and what was the result?
Tú: I added a caching layer, and page load time dropped from three seconds to under one.
Habla en primera persona (I added) y da cifras. “Like a lot” no convence en una entrevista.
Fortalezas y áreas de mejora
Sé honesto sin dispararte en el pie.
Frases clave
| Inglés | Español |
|---|---|
| One of my strengths is breaking down complex problems. |
| Something I'm working on is delegating more. |
| I tend to take on too much at once. | Tiendo a asumir demasiadas cosas a la vez. |
Gramática · Hablar de ti
One of my strengths is + -ing · I tend to + verbo · Something I'm working on is + -ing
I tend to over-engineer, so now I start with the simplest version.
💡 Evita “I'm a perfectionist”: suena a respuesta preparada.
Así lo dirías
Mark: What's an area you're trying to improve in?
Tú: I tend to spend too long polishing details. Now I agree on a 'good enough' version with the team before I start.
“I'm a perfectionist” suena a respuesta enlatada.

Frases clave
| Inglés | Español |
|---|---|
| We disagreed on how to handle the release. |
| I suggested we look at the data together. | Propuse que miráramos los datos juntos. |
| In the end, we found a compromise. | Al final, llegamos a un acuerdo. |
Gramática · La historia completa
Situation → Task → Action (I…) → Result (numbers) → Learning
In the end, we found a compromise and shipped on time.
Mark: Tell me about a time you disagreed with a teammate.
Tú: A teammate wanted to release quickly, while I wanted more test coverage. I suggested we look at the risk together, and in the end we agreed to release behind a feature flag.
