Frases clave
| Inglés | Español |
|---|---|
| I've been using TypeScript for three years. | Llevo tres años usando TypeScript. |
| We've had this setup since 2021. | Tenemos esta configuración desde 2021. |
| How long have you been working with Kubernetes? | ¿Cuánto llevas trabajando con Kubernetes? |
Gramática · For y since
for + periodo · since + momento de inicio
Con present perfect: for para la duración (three years) y since para el punto de inicio (2021, Monday, I joined).
I've worked with React since my first job.
Trabajo con React desde mi primer empleo.
💡 En español decimos “desde hace tres años”, pero en inglés es for three years, nunca since three years.
Así lo dirías
Mark: How long have you been working with your current tech stack?
Tú: I've been working with React for four years, and with Node for about two.
Con duraciones, for, no since.
Qué te gusta y qué no
Frases clave
| Inglés | Español |
|---|---|
| I enjoy working with strongly typed languages. |
| I'd like to try the new framework on a side project. |
| I can't stand debugging CSS on old browsers. | No soporto depurar CSS en navegadores antiguos. |
Gramática · Verbo + -ing o + to
enjoy/mind/can't stand + -ing · want/would like/decide + to
I decided to learn Kotlin, and I really enjoy using it.
Decidí aprender Kotlin y disfruto mucho usándolo.
💡 Like y love admiten los dos, pero would like siempre va con to: I'd like to learn.
Así lo dirías
Leo: What's a technology you'd like to learn this year, and why?
Tú: I'd like to learn Kubernetes, because I really enjoy working on infrastructure.
Would like + to (no -ing) y enjoy + -ing (no to).
Frases clave
| Inglés | Español |
|---|---|
| I'm pretty good at writing clean tests. | Se me da bastante bien escribir tests limpios. |
| I'm still struggling with async patterns. | Todavía me cuestan los patrones asíncronos. |
| I'm slowly getting used to the new editor. | Poco a poco me estoy acostumbrando al nuevo editor. |
Gramática · Preposición + -ing
good at + -ing · struggle with + -ing/sustantivo · get used to + -ing
Ojo: en get used to, el to es preposición.
I'm not very good at estimating.
No se me da muy bien estimar.
💡 “I'm getting used to work remotely” es un error típico: lo correcto es getting used to working.
Así lo dirías
Sarah: What are you good at, and what do you find hard?
Tú: I'm good at frontend work, but I struggle with testing.
Good at, no good in. “Me cuesta X” se dice I struggle with X, sin darle la vuelta a la frase.
Cómo aprendes
Cuenta cómo te pones al día con algo nuevo.
Frases clave
| Inglés | Español |
|---|---|
| I learn best by building small projects. | Aprendo mejor haciendo proyectos pequeños. |
| I'm trying to keep up with the latest releases. |
| I picked up Python on the job. |
Gramática · By + -ing y phrasal verbs de aprendizaje
by + -ing = “haciendo…” · pick up · keep up with · catch up on
By + -ing explica el método. Pick up es aprender de manera informal; keep up with, mantenerse al día; catch up on, ponerse al día con algo atrasado.
I got better at SQL by reading other people's queries.
💡 En español usamos el gerundio (“aprendo leyendo”), en inglés by + -ing: I learn by reading.
Así lo dirías
Priya: How do you usually learn a new tool or language?
Tú: I learn best by building small projects and reading the docs, and I keep up with blogs.
Para el método, by + -ing. “Mantenerse al día” es keep up with, sin “me”.
Pedir y ofrecer ayuda
Pide que te enseñen y ofrece enseñar.
Frases clave
| Inglés | Español |
|---|---|
| Could you show me how you set up the debugger? | ¿Me enseñas cómo configuraste el debugger? |
| I can walk you through the deploy process. |
| Do you have any good resources on GraphQL? | ¿Tienes algún buen recurso sobre GraphQL? |
Gramática · Show / walk through / explain
show + persona + how · walk + persona + through + algo · explain + algo + to + persona
Show y walk through llevan a la persona justo detrás. Explain no: se explica algo to alguien.
Could you explain the caching layer to me?
¿Me podrías explicar la capa de caché?
💡 “Can you explain me…?” es un error clásico. Lo correcto: Can you explain it to me?
Así lo dirías
Leo: You're stuck with the new CI tool. Ask Leo for help.
Tú: Leo, could you walk me through the new CI? I'm not sure how it works.
Explain no va con me detrás: usa walk me through o explain it to me. “I'm not sure” suena más suave que “I don't understand”.
Repaso: tu evolución
Desde cuándo, qué te gusta, qué te cuesta y cómo aprendes.
Frases clave
| Inglés | Español |
|---|---|

| I'm keen to learn more about distributed systems. |
| Pairing has helped me learn much faster. |
Gramática · Repaso de la unidad
for/since · verbo + -ing/to · good at/struggle with · by + -ing · explain to
Para hablar de tu aprendizaje combinas experiencia (present perfect), gustos (enjoy -ing), dificultades (struggle with) y método (by -ing).
I've been learning AWS for a year, mostly by building side projects.
💡 Be keen to + verbo = tener ganas de. Suena profesional y entusiasta.
Así lo dirías
Mark: Tell me how you've grown as a developer over the last few years.
Tú: Over the last three years I've learned a lot. I'm now pretty good at backend work, and I'm keen to learn more about the cloud.
Present perfect para tu evolución (I've learned). Good at, y keen to para lo que quieres aprender.
