Frases clave

InglésEspañol
This test checks that the user can't log in without a password.
The suite runs on every pull request.
It mocks the payment API, so it doesn't charge anyone.

sujeto + verbo (+ -s con he/she/it)

Con it/the test, el verbo lleva -s.

The test creates a user and checks the welcome email.

Priya: What does the test you just wrote do?

Tú: It checks that the user can change their password and that we send an email.

It checks, con -s. An email (empieza por vocal). Check that es más natural que check if para lo que el test verifica.

Los resultados

Explica rojos, verdes y tests que fallan a ratos.

Frases clave

InglésEspañol
All the tests passed except one.Pasaron todos los tests menos uno.
That test is flaky: it fails about once in ten runs.
The build is red because of a timeout.

pass/fail (verbos) · green/red (estado) · flaky (inestable)

Two tests are failing on main, but they passed locally.

💡 No digas “the test is failed”: los tests fail o are failing.

Así lo dirías

Leo: Is your PR ready to merge?

Tú: Almost. All the tests pass except one flaky test that fails now and then.

Frases clave

InglésEspañol
What happens if the user uploads an empty file?¿Qué pasa si el usuario sube un archivo vacío?
What if two people edit the same document at once?¿Y si dos personas editan el mismo documento a la vez?
Have we tested it with a really long name?¿Lo hemos probado con un nombre muy largo?

Gramática · Preguntas hipotéticas

What happens if + presente? · What if + presente?

What happens if the network drops mid-payment?

¿Qué pasa si se cae la red a mitad del pago?

💡 What if es más corto e informal; what happens if, más claro en un ticket.

Así lo dirías

Sarah: You're reviewing a new file upload feature. What edge cases would you ask about?

Tú: What happens if the file is really big, or if it isn't an image?

What happens, con -s. Después de if, presente (is), y an image porque empieza por vocal.

Hablar con QA

Explica qué está probado y qué no.

Frases clave

InglésEspañol
The new flow is covered by unit tests.
Payments aren't tested automatically yet.Los pagos aún no se prueban automáticamente.
Could you focus on the mobile version?¿Podrías centrarte en la versión móvil?

Gramática · Pasiva en presente

is/are + participio (+ by…)

By añade quién o qué lo hace.

The checkout is tested manually by QA.

QA prueba el checkout a mano.

💡 Es muy útil en documentación de QA: “This is tested manually before each release”.

Así lo dirías

Mark: QA asks what they should test in your feature. What do you tell them?

Tú: The backend is covered by automated tests, so could you focus on the screens on mobile?

Pasiva: is tested/covered. “Automatic” es adjetivo; aquí, automated tests. On mobile, no in the mobile.

Frases clave

InglésEspañol
I expected to see a confirmation message.Esperaba ver un mensaje de confirmación.
Instead, the page went blank.
It only happens when I'm logged in as an admin.Solo pasa cuando entro como administrador.

Gramática · Esperado frente a real

I expected + to + verbo · Instead, + pasado

Expect va con to + verbo.

I expected to be redirected. Instead, I got a 500 error.

Leo: You found a bug while testing. Describe it to Leo.

Tú: When I uploaded a photo, I expected to see it in my profile. Instead, I got an error.

Expect to + verbo. Para algo que pasó, pasado. “Me salió un error” es I got an error.

Repaso: calidad

Describe tests, resultados, casos límite y bugs.

Frases clave

InglésEspañol
Let's add a regression test so this doesn't happen again.Añadamos un test de regresión para que no vuelva a pasar.
Our coverage dropped below eighty percent.
I couldn't reproduce it, so could you share the steps?

checks (-s) · pass/fail · what if · is tested · expected to

Hablar de calidad mezcla descripciones (presente con -s), resultados (pass/fail), preguntas (what if) y procesos (pasiva).

What if the token expires? Is that tested?

Sarah: How do you make sure your code is well tested before a release?

Tú: I write unit tests, I think about edge cases, and QA tests the rest manually.

Think about (no think in). Los casos raros son edge cases. QA es singular: QA tests.
