Frases clave
| Inglés | Español |
|---|---|
| This is my laptop. | Este es mi portátil. |
| Those monitors are for the design team. |
| Is that your headset? | ¿Esos cascos son tuyos? |
Gramática · Demostrativos
this / these (cerca) · that / those (lejos)
This y that van con singular; these y those, con plural. This y these para lo que está cerca; that y those para lo que está lejos.
These keys are for the office, and that one is for the server room.
💡 Headphones y headset funcionan como “unos cascos”: these headphones, this headset.
Así lo dirías
Sarah: Welcome! Can you show me your desk?
Tú: Sure! This is my laptop, and those are my two monitors.
This va con is (singular). Para varias cosas lejos, those are.
¿De quién es?
Di de quién es cada cosa.
Frases clave
| Inglés | Español |
|---|---|
| Is this mug yours? | ¿Esta taza es tuya? |
| No, it's Priya's. | No, es de Priya. |
| Our office is on the third floor. | Nuestra oficina está en la tercera planta. |
Gramática · Posesivos
my/your/his/her/our/their + cosa · mine/yours/his/hers/ours · nombre + 's
My, your, our… van delante de la cosa.
That's Mark's bag, and this one is mine.
Esa es la mochila de Mark, y esta es la mía.
💡 No digas “the laptop of Leo”: lo natural es Leo's laptop.
Así lo dirías
Leo: Whose bag is this on my chair?
Tú: It's Sarah's. Mine is the red one.
Falta el sujeto (It's). “Is of Sarah” es Sarah's, y “la roja” es the red one.
Lo que tienes
Di qué tienes y qué te falta.
Frases clave
| Inglés | Español |
|---|---|
| I've got two monitors and a docking station. | Tengo dos pantallas y una base. |
| I haven't got access to the repo yet. | Todavía no tengo acceso al repo. |
| Have you got a spare charger? | ¿Tienes un cargador de sobra? |
Gramática · Have got
I've got · I haven't got · Have you got…?
Have got significa lo mismo que have (tener), y es muy común en inglés británico. La negativa es haven't got y la pregunta, have you got.
Have you got a minute? I haven't got the password.
¿Tienes un minuto? No tengo la contraseña.
💡 En inglés americano se dice más I have / I don't have / Do you have…? Las dos formas son correctas.
Así lo dirías
Mark: Is your setup ready? What do you still need?
Tú: I've got my laptop, but I haven't got access to the VPN yet.
Negativa: haven't got (no “don't got”).
Frases clave
| Inglés | Español |
|---|---|
| The printer is next to the kitchen. |
| My desk is between Leo's and Priya's. | Mi mesa está entre la de Leo y la de Priya. |
| The meeting room is opposite the lifts. |
Gramática · Preposiciones de lugar
next to · between · opposite · behind · in front of · on the left/right
Sirven para describir dónde está algo. Next to (al lado de), between (entre), opposite (enfrente de), behind (detrás de).
The toilets are on the left, behind the meeting room.
💡 On the left / on the right siempre con on y the.
Así lo dirías
Leo: Sorry, I'm new too. Where's the meeting room?
Tú: It's on the right, opposite the kitchen.
On the right (no in). “Enfrente de” es opposite; in front of significa “delante de”.
Algo no funciona
Explica qué le pasa a tu ordenador.
Frases clave
| Inglés | Español |
|---|---|
| My second monitor doesn't work. | Mi segunda pantalla no funciona. |
| The keyboard is broken; some keys don't respond. |
| Can someone from IT have a look? | ¿Puede echar un vistazo alguien de IT? |
Gramática · Describir un problema
doesn't work · is broken · keeps + -ing · won't + verbo
Doesn't work = no funciona. Is broken = está roto. Keeps + -ing = no para de… Won't + verbo = no quiere / se niega a…
My laptop keeps freezing and the trackpad doesn't work.
Mark: IT here. What's wrong with your laptop?
Tú: My laptop is really slow, and it keeps freezing.
Repaso: tu puesto
Objetos, posesivos, have got, lugares y problemas.
Frases clave
| Inglés | Español |
|---|---|
| My setup is ready, thanks! | ¡Mi puesto ya está listo, gracias! |
| Where can I find a spare cable? | ¿Dónde puedo encontrar un cable de sobra? |
| Is this seat free? | ¿Está libre este sitio? |
Gramática · Repaso de la unidad
this/these/that/those · mine, Leo's · I've got / I haven't got · next to, opposite · doesn't work
This is my desk; that monitor doesn't work, so I'm using Leo's.
Sarah: How's your first day? Is everything working?
Tú: Good, thanks! I've got my laptop, but one monitor doesn't work and I haven't got VPN access yet.
Con monitor (it), doesn't.
