Frases clave

InglésEspañol
In a year, I'd like to be leading a small team.
By the end of the quarter, I'll have shipped the new API.Para final de trimestre, habré sacado la nueva API.
This time next month, I'll be presenting at the all-hands.

will be + -ing (en ese momento) · will have + participio (ya terminado para entonces)

By the review, I'll have mentored two new hires.

💡 By + fecha va casi siempre con future perfect: by June I'll have finished.

Guía completa del Future perfect →

Así lo dirías

Mark: Where do you see yourself in two years?

Tú: In two years, I'd like to be working as a senior engineer, and I'll have led at least a couple of big projects end to end.

Future continuous (be working) para lo que estarás haciendo, y future perfect (will have led) para lo que habrás conseguido.

Pedir feedback de carrera

Pregunta qué necesitas para el siguiente nivel.

Frases clave

InglésEspañol
What would it take for me to get to senior?¿Qué me haría falta para llegar a senior?
Where do you think I should focus over the next six months?¿En qué crees que debería centrarme los próximos seis meses?
Is there anything I'm not doing that I should be?¿Hay algo que no esté haciendo y debería hacer?

Gramática · Preguntas para crecer

What would it take for me to + verbo? · Where should I focus…? · What does good look like at…?

What would it take for me to lead the next project?

Sarah: It's your career conversation. What do you ask your manager?

Tú: I'd like to work towards a senior role. What would it take for me to get there, and where do you think I should focus over the next six months?

“What I need to do?” necesita inversión. What would it take for me to… pide algo concreto sin sonar exigente.

Defender tu ascenso

Cuenta tu impacto sin sonar presumido.

Frases clave

InglésEspañol
For the past year, I've been leading the payments project.
I've been mentoring two junior developers since March.
I believe I'm already operating at the next level.

have been + -ing + for/since

I've been running the on-call rota since January and I've cut alerts by half.

💡 “I've been leading” (sigue) frente a “I've led three releases” (resultados contados).

Guía completa del Present perfect continuous →

Así lo dirías

Mark: Why do you think you're ready for a promotion?

Tú: For the past year I've been leading the payments project, which cut failed payments by 30%, and I've been mentoring two juniors. I believe I'm already operating at the senior level.

Present perfect continuous + for. Datos concretos convencen más que “I'm the best of the team”, que suena presumido.

Frases clave

InglésEspañol
I wish I had more time for deep work.Ojalá tuviera más tiempo para concentrarme.
I wish I'd asked for feedback earlier.Ojalá hubiera pedido feedback antes.
If only we could spend less time in meetings.Ojalá pudiéramos pasar menos tiempo en reuniones.

Gramática · Wish e if only

I wish + pasado (presente irreal) · I wish + had + participio (pasado que no fue)

I wish our roadmap were clearer; I wish I'd raised it sooner.

💡 Con be, en registro cuidado se usa were: I wish I were more confident (was también se oye).

Así lo dirías

Sarah: Looking back at the last year, is there anything you'd do differently?

Tú: Yes, I wish I'd asked for more responsibility earlier. And honestly, I wish I had more time for deep work now.

Frases clave

InglésEspañol
I've been thinking about moving into a more data-focused role.
I'd be open to switching teams if the timing works.
I want to make sure the handover goes smoothly.

I've been thinking about + -ing · I'd be open to + -ing · I'm keen on + -ing

I'd be open to taking on more product work.

💡 Open to + -ing (no to + verbo): I'm open to relocating.

Así lo dirías

Mark: You want to move from frontend to the infrastructure team. Bring it up with your manager.

Tú: I've been thinking about moving towards infrastructure. I still enjoy frontend, but I'd be open to a transition if there's an opening, and I'd make sure the handover goes smoothly.

Thinking about + -ing abre la conversación sin sonar a ultimátum. Hablar en positivo (“I still enjoy”) evita quemar puentes.

Repaso: tu carrera

Objetivos, feedback, logros, deseos y cambios.

Frases clave

InglésEspañol
Let's set a check-in for three months from now.Pongamos una revisión dentro de tres meses.
I'd like to have a clear plan before the next review cycle.
Thanks for the honest feedback; it really helps.

will be -ing / will have done · what would it take · have been -ing · I wish · open to + -ing

By the next review, I'll have led a project, so what would it take to get promoted?

Sarah: Summarise your career plan for the next year in a few sentences.

Tú: By this time next year, I'd like to be working at the senior level. I'll have led at least one project end to end, and I'm keen on getting deeper into cloud infrastructure.

Future continuous y perfect para el plan. Want to + verbo. Wish no se usa para planes: usa keen on + -ing.
